Resistant Energy (Jitsu)
The Physics of Conflict
Resistant Energy is a path for force. Force needs a place to go. So, we use Jitsu (reality). This is a physical state of structure. It lets you handle pressure. You do not break.
In contrast, normal resistance is pushing back. But pushing back costs fuel. It is passive. It is working smart. Therefore, you use the ground. You keep your center safe from chaos.
Definition: You are stable. You are connected to the ground. Resistant Energy lets you redirect force. You do not lose balance.
The Breakdown of Resistant Energy
Structure vs. Tension
First, many mix up strength with structure. When stressed, the untrained instinct is to tense up. So, muscles get tight. Your center of gravity goes up. However, this feels “strong.” But it makes you brittle. As a result, you are rigid. You are easy to tip over.
The Gravity Principle
Instead, Jitsu uses “bone stacking.” This lines up your bones so gravity holds you up. For instance, think of a stone church. It stands because the shape moves the weight. It does not use glue. Likewise, this energy moves force into the ground.
Therefore, when you have Resistant Energy, you do not fight. You ground the force. You become a path. Thus, the energy goes through you. You stay safe.
From Theory to Practice
Reading about this is easy. But feeling the difference between “tense” and “grounded” is real. In our mentorship, we use drills. We install this habit into your nervous system.

This works outside the gym too. Also, at work, Resistant Energy keeps you safe. It helps you stay stable when the room gets hot.
The Professional Application
For example, a coworker attacks your project. Do not fight back. Also, do not give up. Instead, use Jitsu:
- Connection: Stick to your facts.
- Structure: Keep your work boundaries.
- Absorption: Let their energy hit your structure. Then, let it ground out. Do not let it hurt you.
This is Strategic Insulation. You are present. You are solid. But you do not join the chaos.
Common Questions
Is Resistant Energy just blocking?
No. Blocking is a crash. You try to stop energy. In contrast, Resistant Energy receives weight. You spread it out. Thus, you do not move. It is the difference between a wall and a spring.
Do I need to be heavy?
You do not need mass. Rather, you need connection. A small wedge can hold back big weight. Therefore, it is about leverage, not size.
How does this relate to “Moving On” (Law 5)?
You cannot leave if you are off-balance. Resistant Energy gives you stability. First, you stabilize. Then, you structure. Finally, you move on safely.
